Art can be anything you choose to hang on the wall. From signed works to your child`s art projects.

Art adds style and  personality to a room and completes the look you are trying to achieve. It also gives us pleasure and can transport us to far away locations and recreate distant memories.
There are a few rules to keep in mind when hanging artwork.
  • The artwork should relate to the furniture below it. So always place furniture first.
  • Keep the shape of the frames in mind. There are only 6 frame shapes. Square, diamond, rectangle, round, oval and oblong.
  • Group like shapes together. Frame-frame  or frame to furniture.
  • Match the shape of the frame to the shape of the wall. Vertical pieces on narrow vertical walls.
  • The number one mistake people make when hanging art is hanging it too high. We spend most of our time in a  room sitting so keep this in mind when hanging your artwork.
  • when hanging mirrors you double whatever they are reflecting. So don`t hang a mirror opposite the hallway powder room.
  • keep sets and pairs together. The impact is lost if spread throughout the room.
  • Use art to add height or width where you need it.
  • Use artwork to balance a large piece of furniture.
Creating a  Gallery
  • Define the area that you wish to cover.
  • Use painter`s tape to define the outer edges of the space.
  • Gather the works you want to hang an lay them on the floor or table in the same size space as outlined on the wall.
  • Use brown paper in the sizes of pictures and tack to the wall to make sure your plan works. This is where you finalize spacing before nails go into the walls.
  • Make sure all  of the wire mounts are the same distance from the tops of the picture frames.
